6 cups sliced, peeled pears
1 cup fresh OR frozen cranberries
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
TOPPING:
1 cup flour
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter OR margarine
whipped cream and fresh mint, optional

combine first 8 ingredients; mix well. pour into a greased 9″ square baking pan.
for topping: combine flour, brown sugar, oats and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. sprinkle over fruit. bake at 350 degrees 50-60 minutes or until pears are tender.
